Depending on the size of the leak there are a few methods for fixing cloth awnings.
Repair leak by awning.
Make sure the awning fabric is clean and free of mildew before repairing the holes.
The sealant will fill the crack as it dries and plug the leak.
Clean the area surrounding the leak.
Most leaks under the awning come from that joint and are an easy fix by adding caulk to the joint.
Place a ladder next to the aluminum awning.
Step 2 clean any grime and or rust off the aluminum awning with a wire block brush to have a clean surface for the patch to stick against.
Try to overhang one edge of the tape over the strip beneath so there aren t any gaps think of them like shingles.
Fix a tear in a vinyl patio awning by attaching a patch of vinyl with similar size and weight characteristics as the awning.
However if that air tube is still under warranty when you get back you should contact kampa vango or the retailer you purchased the air awning from for a replacement air tube.
Put leather gloves on to protect from cuts while working with the aluminum awning.
Use a sealant that is uv resistant exterior grade and designed for seams and metal.
Put a dab of the silicone caulk on your finger.
However you may want to take a repair kit shown below with you on holiday in case a leak does happen.
If it is a light colored fabric use the white silicone caulk for the repair.
Step 2 spread vinyl glue on both surfaces and allow it to dry then position the patch over the torn area.
The surface must be free of dirt grease oil rust tar and any other contaminant that will inhibit a proper seal.
Wash the awning with a mixture of warm water.
That way you can repair the leak.
Wash the leaking area and after it dries apply a line of polyether sealant to cracks or gaps in the awning.
If it is a darker fabric use the clear silicone caulk.
