As with all exterior painting projects proper surface preparation is the key to restoring your metal siding. Wash the steel siding with trisodium phosphate tsp and use a pressure washer to rinse thoroughly. No masking or expensive tool. This will help clean away all the dirt that accumulates on the steel siding.

Lasts much longer than repainting. Restore the original color and finish instead. Start at the top of the wall and across the length of the metal siding. I worked my way down the ladder blasting away the detergent and chalk cleaning one wall at a time.

Step 1 clean the steel siding. Easier than painting siding. For steel use a latex bonding primer instead of a regular metal paint primer. The first step includes cleaning.

Over time however even the best of maintenance can fail to prevent paint peeling from the siding. When washing metal siding it s best to get the nozzle as close to the siding as possible which makes the most use of the powerful water stream. Then apply the primer to the metal siding in even strokes. There is a great alternative to re painting your metal siding.

When ready pour the primer into the paint container on the sprayer or pour the primer into the paint tray. It also helps to peel away the previous paint on the steel siding leaving it neat and clean. The process of repainting pre finished metal siding is a little different than it is for other types of exterior surfaces. Restore the look of your home with a new covering of paint over siding.
